Hello All, To start this off, this is a rewrite to a story I have written before called His Majesty and I back in 2019, I think I have grown enough to properly write the story the way that I like, a special thanks to, LaRascasse, to help with the editing of the story, I had fun rewriting this.
Chapter 1
August 24th
"Roran" The soft voice whispered of his voice lingered in white room. His voice was like music to her ears each time he spoke. She could never see him, all she could do was follow his voice. "Roran," He spoke with desperation. She turned to the direction of his voice and followed it for a moment. "Roran," He spoke again this time, it sounded like he was behind her. She could feel his lips pressed against the back of her neck and a hand faintly trailing down her spine as she let out a sigh. His lips moved from the back of neck to the side of it and she quickly turned around to see him but saw nothing there.
The sound of her phone's alarm clock blared loudly on her bedside table. She woke up startled and mildly annoyed her phone setting off such a loud noise. She huffed sitting up in her bed and quickly turned the alarm off. Then pushed her hair back out her face and wiped the sweat off of her forehead. She rubbed her forehead, processing the same dream she had had since her mother and her moved to Brooksville three years ago. The man who always said her name, she could never see who he was and her mother brushed it off as some crazy dream. But to her, it wasn't crazy, he felt familiar somehow, like she had known him but if she thought about it too hard, she would get a migraine so in the end, she had to take her mother's word for it.
After a minute, Roran finally pushed the comforter off of her and lazily rolled out of bed to go to the bathroom. She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes as she turned on the light and leaned against the marble counter and stared at her reflection. In the mirror revealed a twenty-five year old woman who had brown eyes and bags that began to form under her eyes from the lack of good sleep. Her brown wavy hair was a frizzy mess and she immediately grabbed her brush to brush out any tangles that formed throughout the night. Roran then quickly got ready for work, pushing her hair back in a high ponytail then brushed her teeth and washed her face. She left the bathroom and checked the time on her phone; 5:30AM.
"Shit." Roran cursed to herself as she rushed to put on her dark jean pants, her uniform shirt, and black tennis shoes as she tied on her apron. She quickly grabbed her backpack and rushed out of her room.
"I made coffee." Her mother called from the kitchen. Roran could hear the news from the TV in the living room as she rushed past her mother and headed straight for the door.
"I can't, Mom, I am going to miss the bus." Roran said, "I'll see you this afternoon." She spoke as she swung open the front door and left her apartment.
"Be careful it is supposed to rain later." Her mother called out as Roran closed the door and rushed down the steps
"Almost thought I wouldn't see you today." Her neighbor, Jonah, spoke as Roran jogged to the bus stop. Jonah was two years older than Roran and happened to be her bosses son. They worked together opening the coffee shop for the most part and grew closer together as friends. Her mother had always said Jonah and her would get together but Jonah wasn't really her type. He was tall and very lean, his hair was short and dyed dirty blonde with brunette roots. He was handsome but not someone she saw herself going for.
"You almost didn't" She said panting from the run to the bus stop and he let out a snort as she rolled her eyes, "I had the same dream again, it threw me off." She explained.
"Again? You know, you have those dreams fairly often." Jonah pointed out.
"Oh thanks, I didn't know." She replied sarcastically, "it was a bit different this time, it was like he was touching my back or something." She mumbled as the bus turned down their street and made its way towards the stop they were standing at.
"Got touched by a ghost of your dreams." He said in a playful creepy voice.
"Shut up." She scowled as the bus pulled up and they got on. Roran pulled out her bag and went to grab her change realizing the front pocket was empty. "Mother." She mumbled under her breath knowing her mother must've taken it when she was asleep. She looked at Jonah with pleading eyes,
"I don't have extra today." Jonah said before making his way to his seat. Roran huffed as she tried to look deeper into the bag and heard footsteps approach her,
"I got it." A familiar deep voice spoke, she looked up and met eyes with this man who looked down at her. His eyes were hazel and he had sharp facial features. His black hair was slicked back and he had a stubble forming on his face but Roran almost couldn't look away from him.
"Thanks." She whispered barely audible as she took in the look of this gorgeous man. She smiled sheepishly at him and he smiled back before bursa escort (https://hatchresources.com/) winking then paid for her bus fare. Roran finally looked away and walked over to join Jonah. She couldn't shake that she knew him from somewhere, he glanced at her as he smirked and walked past her back to his seat. She caught a whiff of his cologne and it almost drove her insane in a hot way. She chewed on her bottom lip looking down at her lap as she tried to figure out where she knew him from. She was too far in her head to hear Jonah speaking to her.
"Earth to Roran." Jonah waved his hand in front of her face. Roran snapped back to reality before looking at Jonah. "You down?"
"For what?" She asked him,
"Club, tonight. You and I." He said staring at her in disbelief as she registered what he had said to her.
"Oh, uhm, yeah of course." She said to him
"Well, he got your panties twisted," Jonah scowled playfully and Roran immediately knew he meant the guy that paid for her bus fare and elbowed Jonah.
"Shut up." She said to him and he laughed quietly before the two continued talking about random things. At one point Roran turned around to get another look at the man but he was no longer on the bus. She furrowed her eyebrows together, she didn't remember the bus stopping for anyone. She faced forward again and continued her conversation with Jonah.
Roran and Jonah arrived at the coffee shop they worked at and walked inside to clock in, she set up the front of the coffee shop pulling down the chairs and pushing them into the table and put out fresh pastries while Jonah started the coffee. They restocked any items that were needed and by the time they finished it was time to open. Roran flipped on the open sign and unlocked the front door before standing at the register. Her shift dragged on after twelve in the afternoon seeing as people were now at work. She decided to keep busy and sweep the front lobby of the coffee shop.
"Hey Roran." Jonah spoke up and Roran lifted her head to glance at him, "I'm going on break. Going to the sub next door want anything?" He asked her.
"Of course, I want a sub, Jonah." She scowled at him, "When have I ever said no to a sub sandwich?" She asked him,
"Yeah well," he hesitated "you never know when someone will say no so you know, you ask." He replied back and she shot him a glare as he left for a sandwich. Roran finished sweeping and even cleaned the tables to try and cure her boredom but to no avail, in the end she stood back at the register feeling even more bored than she was before she cleaned. She finally decided to dig in her bag and pull out a book before setting it on the counter. She opened it to the page she left off on reading and silently read, waiting to hear the doorbell to the shop open. Once it did, Roran immediately spoke up,
"Welcome to the coffee shop how may I..." she trailed off when she looked up to see the same handsome man, she saw on the bus that very morning.
"Roran." He spoke warmly, Roran looked confused, she didn't have a name tag on, yet he knew her name.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, "do we know each other?" she asked, the look in his eyes faltered quickly.
"You don't remember me?" He asked her and she just stared at him,
"No, well you were the man that paid for my bus fare this morning, thank you for doing that by the way." She smiled but he just had a defeated look in his eyes as he looked down towards the counter. "I'm sure you have the wrong face, not saying that your Roran isn't out there or anything." She spoke awkwardly before clearing her throat and silently cringed at herself.
"No." He said, "You are exactly who I am looking for." His words were smooth and almost mesmerizing. He looked back toward Roran as she swallowed harshly. "You just don't remember." He said sounding discouraged. Deep down Roran couldn't shake where she had known him from. Just that he was there, in front of her. Roran. Her mind repeated the way he said her name, it was familiar like she had known him.
"You do look familiar." She whispered to him, "Like I have known you for a while." She said and he just stared at her silently. "I'm sorry." She said looking down at the register, "must be a passing face or something maybe we seen each other in the streets and never said anything." The excuse was easy and simple to make, something to write off in the back of her mind.
"No. That's not it either." He spoke, she knew it wasn't, but it was easy, "Roran." His voice quivered as if he was almost ready to beg for her. She didn't want to think about it, thinking too hard about her past hurts her head when she draws blanks. She looked at him again noticing he was still staring at her. "Please remember, Roran." He whispered,
"I can't." She spoke as she shook her head.
"You can." He said desperately. The room began to get dizzy as her head was standing pounding like a loud thumping.
"I can't. I can't I'm sorry," she whispered as she stopped trying to think about it again. "I'm just a face you saw passing bursa escort bayan (https://hatchresources.com/) by, that's it, you heard Jonah say my name and thats how you know my name." She said out loud, her head began to stop hurting as she used another excuse, she looked at him. "Are you going to order? Would you like a coffee sir?" She asked him. He sighed and nodded,
"Yes, an Americano..." he was cut off by Roran,
"Double espresso, three sugars and two pumps of creamer." She said out loud like she knew his order from the back of her hand. She furrowed her brows confused, how did she know his order. "Can I get a name?" She asked him as the facial expression on his face turned from sad to hopeful.
"Magnus." He said to her, she looked at him with a smile.
"Magnus?" She asked and he nodded, she smiled to herself, "I want to name my kid that name one day when I have kids." She said to him and he smiled at her, "I love the name." She stared at him. She felt something wet begin to slide past her cheek and down her face. She quickly wiped it realizing it was a tear. "Oh, I am so sorry, I don't know where that came from." She laughed awkwardly, "one Americano coming right up." She said to him and walked away to go make the coffee. She felt another tear drop down her face and she quickly wiped it away confused about what was happening to her. After she made the coffee, she handed it to Magnus who paid and took a sip.
"Just the way I like." He smiled "thanks." He said dropping a fifty-dollar bill in the tip jar. Roran looked at him in shock,
"I hope to see you around then?" She asked as he turned to leave.
"You'll see me sooner than you think Roran." He said to her and she smiled to herself as he left the shop.
"Hey, I brought the sub." Jonah said as he stepped inside causing Roran to slip out of her daze. "You can go on your break, I got it from here." He spoke and Roran nodded, taking the sandwich from him.
"Thank you, Jonah." She said and went to take her break and ate her food silently. The rest of her work shift was boring as it was still slow and by the time she was off she was ready to go home. So Roran was more than happy to be sitting on the bus with her tips in her bag.
"Okay so I'll swing by your place when it's time and we'll head out to the club." Jonah said to her and she nodded, when she got home, she noticed the house was oddly quiet,
"Mom?" She called out and looked around the place seeing she wasn't home which was odd. Roran's mother always usually told her if she was going out before she left for work. "Maybe she forgot." She mumbled to herself and walked into her room then sat her bag down and immediately jumped to her bed where it was nice and comfortable. She quickly kicked her shoes off and made herself more comfortable by staring at the ceiling.
"Roran" Magnus's voice whispered in her ear. "Roran," it repeated as she tried to think about it again, she knew this man. She had to have known him from before. But her head began to hurt and she didn't want to think too much about it so she let it go.
After a few hours of relaxing Roran then another hour of getting ready to go out noticed her mother was still not home. She was confused and began to worry slightly but was thrown off from the knocking on her door. She quickly went over and opened it expecting it to be her mother but it was Jonah standing there sheepishly with a hoodie on. "Ready?" He asked her and she nodded before leaving and closing the door behind her.
"Hey, did my mother pass by your apartment by any chance?" She asked him and Jonah shook his head
"No." He said to her as they began walking down the stairs and back towards the bus stop.
"That's weird she isn't home yet." She said to him and Jonah shrugged it off as they headed off to the club. When they got there the music was loud and slightly obnoxious but Roran quickly tuned it out as she walked to the bar with Jonah. They got their first round of drinks smiling their asses off as she noticed the many people dancing on the dance floor. After two rounds of drinking Jonah tapped her shoulder and she looked at him,
"I'm going to go dance." He said pointing at the floor and she nodded barely hearing what he said before he walked off onto the floor. Roran watched him dance goofily as she shook her head and snorted.
"Roran." She heard someone call out and she turned her head to see Magnus standing beside her,
"Oh wow, I thought I wouldn't see you again." She said to him and he just shook his head with a smile on his face.
"I told you I'd see you again." He said to her, "come." He held his hand out and she looked at it then at him before taking it and he led her to the dance floor where they began to dance together. Magnus definitely took the lead as he pulled her close to him and they danced. She could feel the tension immediately as his cologne did numbers on her. His eyes were on her though it didn't take long for her to notice most of the women were eyeing him. He didn't even glance at any of them. He escort bursa (https://hatchresources.com/) kept his eyes on her and only on Roran. He turned Roran around and began to grind with her. Roran pressed back against him feeling a tint begin to form in his pants. She bit her lip, feeling aroused by this as he leaned down and brushed her hair forward before kissing her neck softly sending a shiver down her spine.
She gulped as he danced closer to her rocking his hips against her "Roran," a flash of Magnus popped into her head as he whispered her name. Her head began to pound as she remembered a glimpse of him smiling at her.
"Hello I'm Magnus." Magnus held his hand out to greet her,
"I know who you are my king." Roran said, taking his hand and shaking it. "I am Roran." He stared at her with eager eyes,
"I know." He smirked
Roran pushed Magnus away from her and looked at him. Her head began to throb with pain and all she knew was she needed to get home. She quickly found Jonah and told him she was leaving before handing him her portion of the tab and leaving the club, heading back to her house. By the time she had gotten back it was late and her head was still hurting. She opened the door and found her mother asleep on the sofa with the TV on. She sighed, knowing her mother was trying to wait up for her. She went into her mother's room and took a blanket before going over to the sofa and covering her mother with it then quickly shut off the TV before heading back to the bathroom and took a shower.
"Hello I'm Magnus." Those three words rang in her head to the point where she felt like she could feel them rattle. She anxiously began to bite at her nails thinking about him. She knew him before, but that's all she could remember. Just his name and that she could call him her king. After she showered, she changed into a silky lace navy blue nightgown and laid down in her bed. All she could do was drift off to sleep hearing those three words repeat over and over again.
"Roran," His voice rang in her head and she opened her eyes to see she was once again in this void state. "Roran," He sounded like he was behind her so she turned around. She frowned,
"Who are you?" She asked him, but he only replied by saying her name. "What do you want?" There was silence for a moment as she took a deep breath.
"Roran." He whispered again over and over,
"Magnus?" She called out, silence fell over her mind once again. Roran felt someone was behind her then and she slowly turned around to see Magnus stand over her.
"Roran." He whispered with a smile on his face as he took her hand. Her heart began to flutter as she held his hand and she smiled at him.
August 25th, 2006
Roran woke up to the same alarm blaring in her ear and she scowled turning off her alarm then laid in her bed staring at the ceiling. She slowly got up and got ready for the day before leaving her room where her mother was waiting in the kitchen. "Coffee?" Her mother offered and Roran nodded slowly. "You were gone when I got home,"
"Yeah, Jonah wanted to go clubbing last night." Roran said rubbing her face as her mother handed her a cup of coffee.
"You and Jonah have gotten close since you moved here." Her mother spoke "I am shocked he didn't ask you out yet." She added and Roran shrugged,
"I don't see him like that." Roran answered, "Though I did meet this guy who paid for my bus fare yesterday then he stopped by the coffee shop." She said to her,
"Really?" Her mother faced her with a smile on her face. "Did you get his name?" She asked her and Roran nodded,
"Magnus," Roran said as she smiled at his name. She still liked the way his name rolled off of her tongue. Too focused on the thought of him once again to notice her mother's smile turn into a frown as her eyes filled with silent fear.
"Really?" She asked her daughter and Roran nodded,
"Though, he says we know each other, funnily enough I can't seem to remember it." Roran said to her, "I think I remember meeting him, I called him a king but I don't know." Roran rambled, taking another sip of her coffee. Her mother immediately began to panic as she began looking through the counter. Roran looked up staring at her mother, "Mom what's wrong?" She asked
"We don't have much time, if Magnus found you twice, he'll find you here." Her mother spoke as she pulled out ingredients and powders Roran had never seen.
"Mom?" Roran asked confused, "What are you doing?" Roran asked her but her mother ignored her,
"Listen Roran," Her mother spoke, "Everything I have done, was to protect you and keep you safe." She said to her,
"What are you talking about?" Roran asked, "What is going on?" She asked her,
"I am so sorry Roran." Her mother whispered, turning to her daughter who stood there worried, "I hope you can forgive me one day." She said to Roran.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door and Roran turned to the door. "Don't answer it." Her mother said to her, "Whatever you do, just know Roran, I love you." Her mother whispered to her. The lights in the house began to flicker and the ground shook, her mother ran to her room as the front door was broken and Roran screamed before running to the kitchen pulling out a large kitchen knife. Just then Magnus walked in with three men,
